About
Ashridge Karate Academy teaches traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu karate in Berkhamsted, for juniors from age 7, cadets and adults. Training covers basics, kata, bunkai and sparring, with a belt system up to black belt, 46 weeks a year. Classes run on Mondays at All Saints Church, Shrublands Road (HP4 3HY), and on Thursdays at the dojo at Ashlyns School, Chesham Road (HP4 3AH), with open training on Saturday mornings in Chesham for brown and black belts. The senior instructor and club owner is Sensei John Foster, 4th Dan, who has trained since 1986. The club's website says it holds the Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts mark for 2025 to 2026, and that the club is associated with GKI. The first session is free.
